COURSE DESCRIPTION

Your Playlist Is Programming You

A Transformational Youth Experience Through Music, Mindset & Identity

Overview

“Your Playlist Is Programming You” is a culturally relevant, interactive course designed to help students understand how music influences their thoughts, emotions, identity, and behavior.

Through guided discussions, lyric analysis, and self-reflection, participants explore how repeated exposure to music—especially Hip-Hop and R&B—can shape belief systems, normalize behaviors, and reinforce emotional patterns. The course introduces students to the concept that what they consistently listen to can become what they think, feel, and ultimately live.

By combining elements of social-emotional learning (SEL), media literacy, and personal development, this experience empowers students to move from unconscious consumption to intentional living.
